LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Acclaimed actress Lexy Hammonds has recently been cast in the leading role of “Miranda” in Sean Patrick Cannon’s upcoming dramedy “Girl Games,” a tale of passion and betrayal in Hollywood. The film is now in production.
“The role of Miranda has a bundle of color – something that will allow me to really dive in and dig deep to try and understanding the complexities of who she is,” Hammonds said. “Miranda is misunderstood, but deep down is a protagonist with something to prove.”
The film, written and directed by renowned director Sean Patrick Cannon (“American High School”), tells the story of a beloved Hollywood star who faces the worst PR nightmare possible – he is blacklisted. The women in his life now stand in the way of his quest toward redemption, settling down, or leaving an industry he loves – an industry that now hates him. The film is being co-produced by Solomon Productions, who are best known for their four-time award-winning film “The Code of Cain,” starring Eric Roberts.
Known for her roles as the antagonist, Hammonds said “This role will allow me step away from my typecast. Growing up I was always drawn to complex characters that demand more from an actor, that challenge your skill as an artist, and Miranda gives me the opportunity to do this.” Hammonds is co-starring with Gina Hiraizumi (“The Fast and the Fierce”), Lauren Caster (“Stitchers”), Nick Shakoour (Hawaii Five-O) and Rae Sunshine Lee (“Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie”).
“Lexy has brought a relaxed, positive attitude to set and is truly a great pleasure to work with and be around,” Cannon said. “Her work ethic is unparalleled, consistently surpassing my highest expectations, innately mastering my vision of the character.”
Since moving stateside several years ago, Hammonds has been in demand for an impressive list of diverse roles in several major productions. Her most recent ventures include her leading roles in “Comfort,” the directorial debut of two-time Academy Award nominee Stephane Ceretti (“Dr. Strange,”), Across The Pond’s latest Google campaign “Opinion Rewards” directed by two-time Cannes Lion Winner Jonathon Zames, as well as Alliance/A New Era’s “Voices” which has recently been nominated for “Best Drama” at the CCH Film Festival, as well as televised on American television.
One of her most known films includes her starring role as the saucy Christina in Sky Culture Entertainment’s “Ri Luo Ci Qi” which garnered over 300 million views on Tencent; China’s leading online distribution site for film and TV, receiving VIP status.
“It’s a comedy about a couple trying to rekindle their relationship who run into a whole lot of trouble when they decide to vacate to Los Angeles. I of course being the trouble!” Hammonds said.
Born in Market Bosworth in Leicestershire, England, Hammonds grew up surrounded by the arts, realizing her love for the craft at age 8 after her debut role as Henrietta Baskerville in “The Hound of the Baskervilles.” She went on to study at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts which bred the likes of Anne Hathaway, Grace Kelly, Paul Rudd and Robert Redford and to this day, she enjoys the works of William Shakespeare, Noel Coward, Ted Hughes and Neil Simon.
A professionally trained and with a long list of impressive credits, Britain’s Lexy Hammonds has been tapped for a starring role in another of Sean Patrick Cannon’s films, psychological thriller “Christmas Eve” which will go into pre-production in 2019.
“Girl Games” is a Solomon Films Productions presentation, distributed by Nonstop Media. Producers are Kristifor Cvijetic and Siarhel Zhdanovich, written and directed by Sean Patrick Cannon, cinematography by Joe Passarelli, and editing by Sean Patrick Cannon and Michael Darrow.
