You wept tears of joy when she was born. Every greeting card that welcomed your new baby daughter into the world is tucked away in a scrapbook, along with a lock of baby hair and countless photos. It was not much different when the baby boy was born! His firsts are all recorded on video and every toy truck is neatly packed away under his bed. Out of love, you have saved all of their story books and dress up outfits.
Time has marched on and the past is filled with precious memories. Who could have known how many amazing experiences the family would have together! Birthdays were the events of the year and were always made into huge celebrations, making the birthday boy or girl feel like royalty. Nearly any request was fulfilled. There were circus, sports, tea party and princess themed parties galore! And almost every gift the children received has been respectfully saved and put into Gardena self storage units.
As the children grew, they went through different phases, trying their hand at many new things. The musical phase included a drum set, a saxophone, cymbals, a piano and an antique violin. When the music phase ended, it was too heartbreaking to give the items away or sell them. So, they too went into storage. The sports phase saw two seasons of football, three seasons of soft ball, four seasons of soccer, one lone season of track and a halfhearted attempt at volleyball. After storing the children’s equipment in the garage for awhile, it too was moved to the storage unit.
Now that the children are grown, graduated and married, there will be many decisions to make. As you look around their rooms, you may experience mixed feelings. There are so many glad feelings for they good people they have been reared to be and indeed, have turned out to be! There are loving feelings for the joy they have brought to life itself. But, there is sadness as well. They have long outgrown their little kid games and toys. They have very likely forgotten about their butterfly nets, costumes and other trinkets.
Each room must be sorted through and organized. The kids will need to decide what they want to keep and move to their respective homes, or into storage as you have done! Sure enough, the memories flood back as they arrive at their childhood home and begin looking through the mountains of belongings. They keep certain special toys, collections and some of the musical instruments and sports equipment.
You have decided to make a grandchild room and fill it with some of your favorites. The remaining items should go to other places, but you aren’t quite ready to part with some things. The baby dresses, baseball cards, art work, trophies and stuffed toys are beloved, and storage is the perfect, safe solution.
